Additional Mentorship Options
for MSK Ultrasound Scanning

We always encourage people to come to our MSK Ultrasound Mentorship Programme which is heavily focused on real-life patients and within 8 days, you manage to get approx 100 scans. This is the most economical option for most students.

Alternatively, our mentors can offer other flexible options such as: 

Direct Mentorship at Your Clinic:

You and your MSK ultrasound group mentor agree on dates, and you will book patients on those days. Your mentor will travel to your clinic and will supervise you scanning these patients in your clinic.

Pros:

  • No travelling is required, and our mentor will visit your clinic.
  • You are in your comfort zone, and it enhances your learning.
  • You have more control of the whole situation.

Cons:

  • You must book/arrange your patients.
Cost: £109/hour + Travelling charges.

Remote Mentoring or E-mentoring:

You can scan your patient and save images. Your mentor and you go through these images at a mutually agreed time using e-meeting platforms. 

Pros:

  • It is convenient for all parties and this option is ideal for trained sonographers to maintain their CPD showing peer support learning (meeting PCR and BMUS requirements).
  • This option can be used by students enrolled in PgC courses as well.
  • It’s economical as well and a greener option (less travelling).

Cons:

  • Some universities do not allow remote mentorship. 
  • The main disadvantage is that if you miss anything during the scan, then your mentor cannot identify it when reviewing the images.
  • Students may miss technical things such as most optimal position for you/your patient and tips/pitfalls for different body parts. 
Cost: £75/hour for the year 2025

Direct Mentorship at Our Clinic in Kent:

You and your mentor agree date and then your mentor will book patients on those dates. You come and scan these patients in our clinic.

Pros:

  • You do not have to arrange patients or an ultrasound machine.
  • You get nearly a full day clinic booked with patients. The duration of this clinic can vary from 6-8 hours.

Cons:

  • You will have to travel to our clinic in Kent.
Cost: £135/hour for the year 2025.
