Two days Introductory Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course
This practical two-day course serves as an introduction to diagnostic musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound. Developed by healthcare professionals working in MSK point-of-care and Radiology settings, this course is customized to address the specific needs of medical and healthcare practitioners aiming to enhance their clinical skills through the use of diagnostic ultrasound.
The course is designed to broaden clinicians’ knowledge and understanding of diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and its impact on clinical practice. Led by Consultant MSK Physiotherapists, who have utilized musculoskeletal ultrasound in both NHS and private outpatient MSK departments for over seven years.
Participants in this introductory course on diagnostic MSK ultrasound will benefit from a comprehensive learning experience, which includes a variety of case studies. This course is suitable for beginners or individuals with limited experience in scanning.
With a focus on providing individualized attention, our courses maintain a low tutor and scanner to student ratio (maximum of three students per system). This setup allows for ample scanning time and ensures that participants receive close guidance from our tutors while practicing scanning on their peers.
The curriculum covers scanning of peripheral joints, along with brief lectures on fundamental physics, case studies on pathology, incorporation of ultrasound into clinical practice, an overview of clinical governance and regulations, an introduction to ultrasound-guided injections, and assessing ultrasound as a diagnostic tool.
